Symptoms You Need A Hormone Makeover
Depression. Depression can affect all areas of your life from your ability to work, to coping with children and/or aging parents, to your relationship with your mate. Estimates show that 15 to 20 percent of women in perimenopause or menopause will experience depression. Don’t let Depression steal your Thunder.
Fatigue. 8 out 10 woman who struggle with hormone imbalances also struggle with daily fatigue. This is a huge problem we see with our patients. The worst part about daily fatigue is that it robs you from quality time with friends and family you deserve.
Weight Gain-The hormonal changes of menopause might make you more likely to gain weight around your abdomen than around your hips and thighs
Hot flashes. These sensations of heat in the face and upper body typically last 30-45 minutes and can be described as a feeling of suffocation. Others describe sweating, rapid heartbeat, nausea, headache, anxiety and dizziness. For some woman, Hot flashes can seem like the end of the world.
Mood swings. Is everybody around you walking on thin ice? Are you finding it more challenging to get along with your spouse, your boss, or even your friends?
Here are Some Action Steps for Hormone Balance Outside of the ones mentioned in todays Video.
- Stay Hydrated- Optimal hydration is key to regulating osmotic processes in critical organs like the kidney and aids in eliminating stress hormones. Fat burning hormones require sufficient water intake to control homeostatic processes in the body such as blood pressure and sugar balance. Considering that the loss of only 2% of body fluid will adversely affect one’s exercise performance, maintaining great hydration is necessary for modulating hormone levels and reducing stress. Avoid overdoing caffeine and Completely avoid sweetened beverages like soda and processed energy drinks.
- Meditation- chronic stress significantly increases cortisol levels in the body which has been implicated as a cause of a pain, insomnia, weight gain, anxiety and disease. Stress also has been shown to trigger alterations to human growth hormone secretion, thyroid-stimulating hormone and testosterone. Meditation and prayer can be powerful health habits- The hardest part is just getting started and staying committed to a daily routine.
-  Exercise- Regular exercise is a significant stress reliever. Exercise increases blood circulation which brings more oxygen and nutrients to the tissues speeding up the healing process. Studies show that exercise has protective benefits against declining health because it reduces high sugar or glucose levels and this alone, helps combat the affects of stress. Studies also show regular exercise 3-5x week, slows down the aging process and improves quality of sleep.
- Focus on Better Quality of Sleep- In a study, a reduction in sleep was shown to cause a decrease in leptin, an increase in ghrelin, impaired glucose tolerance and increased hunger and appetite. We know that hormone imbalances often have a sleep component as most patients we work with who need a hormone makeover struggle with good quality sleep.
