Hormone Testing & Consult

Hormones play a powerful role in the body’s regulatory system. Proper hormonal balance is essential to maintain optimal health and play a crucial role in how one feels. Testosterone, for example, enhances sex drive, strengthens bone and muscle tissue, and reduces fat production. In addition, it is a natural energy booster that protects against the onset of depression and heart disease.

Menopause Plus™ is a hormone test for menopausal women that can be used to identify hormonal imbalances. To enhance clinical utility, patient results are provided in comparison to standard reference ranges for various healthy cohorts and in comparison to a cohort of supplemented peri/menopausal women.

Woman who suffer with skin conditions, weight gain, thyroid problems, PCOS, endometriosis, infertility, hot flashes, heavy periods, an ovulation (absent period) Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), spastic colon, Crohn’s and celiac often have menstrual cycle or hormone imbalances that need to be addressed.

The Adrenal Stress Index can explain excessive feelings of tiredness and an inability to cope and is a helpful tool for how to approach the reduction of craving for excessive calories and to help you build and maintain muscle mass.  The Adrenal Stress Index reveals both the strength of the immune system and ability to digest wheat type grains safely.

Routine thyroid tests miss critical information about thyroid health. The  Complete Thyroid Panel goes above and beyond routine thyroid tests, which only measure thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and total T4. It gives a comprehensive view of thyroid function by measuring TSH, T3 (free and total), T4 (free and total), reverse T3, and anti-thyroglobulin and thyroid peroxidase antibodies.

The DUTCH Complete™ is the most advanced hormone test, offering an extensive profile of sex and adrenal hormones and melatonin, along with their metabolites, to identify symptoms of hormonal imbalances. Easily collected in the comfort of your own home, samples are then sent to our lab to be processed.

The DUTCH hormone test is a comprehensive approach to hormone imbalances and is helpful if you struggle with losing weight, daily fatigue, irregular cycles, low mood or irritability, or depression.

The Male Hormone DUTCH Test® provides excellent information for men looking to optimize their health and wellbeing. While it is common to focus only on increasing testosterone, other hormones play key roles in symptoms such as fatigue, abdominal weight gain, gynecomastia, male pattern baldness, depression, insomnia, and more

The iodine 24hr urine test may be used to evaluate iodine deficiency disorders or monitor exposure to iodine and it may also be used to help diagnose iodine-induced hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism or autoimmune thyroid diseases such as Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.

Complete Hormones™ is a comprehensive urinary hormone test, designed to assist in the clinical management of hormone-related conditions. This hormone test assesses parent hormones, their metabolites, and key metabolic pathways. This test uses a 24-hour collection. It can also be ordered as a FMV collection.

Gut/GI Testing & Consult

The H. pylori breath test involves breathing into a balloon-like bag. It’s a safe and easy way to detect H. pylori bacteria, diagnosis H. pylori infection, and determine if treatment cured the infection. H. pylori infection is a major cause of peptic ulcer disease. Its presence also increases your risk of gastritis and stomach cancer.

The GI Effects® Comprehensive Stool Profile is a group of advanced stool tests that provide immediate, actionable clinical information for the management of gastrointestinal health. Utilizing cutting-edge technologies and biomarkers, this profile offers valuable insight into digestive function, intestinal inflammation, and the intestinal microbiome.

The GI-MAP (Microbial Assay Plus) is unique in the field of comprehensive stool testing. It relies exclusively on quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) technology to detect parasites, bacteria, fungi, and more, by targeting the specific DNA of the organisms tested.

Candida is a yeast found naturally as part of the normal healthy gut microflora and occurs in the mouth and vagina. The Candida Antibody test is used to detect systemic candidiasis by looking for the 3 antibodies that form your immunity to Candida; they are IgG, IgA, and IgM. The test recognizes when levels of these antibodies are particularly high, signaling an overgrowth of Candida.

Cyrex Array 2- Intestinal Permeability Test (also known as Leaky Gut Test) | Cyrex Labs®

Leaky gut affecting your health?

In many people, gluten, Dairy, Corn, Lectins, and other food proteins cause inflammation in the gut, which eventually leads to intestinal permeability, or “leaky gut”. Leaky gut allows undigested food particles, bacteria, toxins, and other materials to enter the bloodstream where they can trigger the immune system creating allergies, sensitivities, and systemic inflammation.

SIBO is an inflammatory condition in the Small Intestines. Millions of Americans suffer from gastrointestinal symptoms caused by SIBO each year. Get tested For SIBO and monitor improvement with this test.

Sibo Breath Testing & Consult

The hydrogen breath test is a simple and noninvasive way to diagnose common gastrointestinal conditions, including lactose intolerance and SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth). It does take some advance preparation to make sure results are accurate. The breath test evaluates your digestion of particular sugars by measuring the gas you exhale, usually hydrogen and methane.

IBS-smart measures the levels of two validated IBS biomarkers, anti-CdtB and anti-vinculin. These biomarkers are elevated in a majority of IBS patients with diarrheal symptoms and can diagnose diarrhea-predominant or mixed-type IBS (IBS-D or IBS-M). These biomarkers are not commonly elevated in patients with constipation-predominant IBS (IBS-C). The validation study for ibs-smart shows that elevated biomarkers indicate IBS with up to 100% positive predictive value. Furthermore, this test is highly specific in distinguishing between IBS and IBD.

Cyrex Array 3-Gluten sensitivity testing can be a game changer and a life saver for some.

Cyrex Array 3 is by far the most advanced test for wheat/gluten sensitivity available at this time. It screens not only for intolerance to alpha-gliadin (that is, the epitope of gliadin/gluten most commonly tested for), but also to other epitopes of gliadin. A sensitivity to gluten can lead to Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, and so much more. Learn more about testing for gluten sensitivity.

Food Sensitivity and Food Allergy Consult

Type one, or “classic”, allergy causes redness, swelling, and heat in the body as a result of the elevated blood levels of Immunoglobulin E (IgE). Contrary to popular belief, the symptoms produced by IgE can be subtle and similar to those seen in other conditions. This potential confusion makes diagnostic testing very important in recognizing the offending source. The Advanced IgE Test broadens the scope of test foods and/or inhalants, including Thimerosal and Candida.

Is your body reacting to gluten-free foods as if they were gluten? Gluten intolerance and sensitivities are not as straightforward as you might think. In fact, researchers found that some people react to other foods (even gluten-free foods) as if they were gluten. If you tested positive for gluten after using the Cyrex Labs Gluten Intolerance Test, you may be embarking on a gluten-free lifestyle. In order to achieve your gluten-free health goals and create optimal health, it is important to know what other goods cause your body to react.

People with lactose intolerance are unable to fully digest the sugar (lactose) in milk. As a result, they have diarrhea, gas and bloating after eating or drinking dairy products. Breath hydrogen testing can be used to detect malabsorption of lactose. These short-chain carbohydrates can cause symptoms of bloating, pain and altered bowel habit in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and related functional gut disorders.

Breath hydrogen testing can be used to detect malabsorption of fructose and lactose. These short-chain carbohydrates can cause symptoms of bloating, pain and altered bowel habit in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and related functional gut disorders.

The Cyrex Array 10 helps identify food sensitivities that may be promoting chronic health issues. Since the immune system can react differently to cooked, raw, and modified foods, the Array 10 test for them, giving you the best guide on what foods to eat and which ones to avoid.

Immune Testing

All autoimmune diseases are centered around one key factor: your body attacks itself, more specifically your immune system.

Conventional medicine’s approach is to treat symptoms and the end stage damage that shows up rather than finding the root cause of your autoimmune disease. Whether you have lupus, RA, Hashimoto’s, Graves’ disease, psoriasis, multiple sclerosis, or one of the other hundreds of autoimmune diseases, there IS a way and you CAN find relief from your symptoms and live a healthy, normal life.

Understanding what is causing your immune system to attack the body and knowing how to balance/support the immune system is the key. There is no one singular reason behind autoimmune diseases. There can be many triggers unique to the the individual. Gut health, Inflammation, food sensitivities, Oxidative stress, mold, heavy metals, pathogens, leaky gut, high bacterial/viral load, hormones are factors that influence stability over your immune system. Stabilizing your immune system requires understanding the “WHY”

Many studies show that the autoimmune antibody can be elevated in the blood for up to 10 before symptoms occur. Cyrex Labs have now developed their Cyrex Labs Array #5, a comprehensive autoimmune screen that helps in the early detection of autoimmunity. If detected early, natural and/or medical interventions can begin in order to minimize long-term illness and promote a better quality of life.

Multiple autoimmune antibodies are tested in this panel due to the fact that more than 40% of those with auto-antibodies to one area have auto-antibodies to other areas of the body. Cyrex Array #5 tests the gamut of autoimmune antibodies in order to minimize “missing” a potential autoimmune condition.

This test helps determine if there is increased permeability to the blood brain barrier (BBB) which is a physical barrier formed by the arrangement of endothelial cells and tight junctions that line the capillaries which supply blood to the brain.

High bacterial, viral and parasitic load can trigger autoimmune disease. The test detects immune reaction to key pathogens that may lead to multiple autoimmune reactivities.

this test can also be used to determine the role of pathogens in cases of ‘unexplained’ autoimmune reactivities.

Dr Hagmeyer also uses this test to monitor the effectiveness of clinical protocols for addressing pathogens associated with multiple autoimmunities.

IGeneX is the global leader in the research and development of tests that accurately detect Lyme disease, Relapsing Fever, and other tick-borne diseases. IGeneX offers best-in-class testing for tick-borne diseases that delivers the most comprehensive and accurate results possible, so you can find the right treatment path to restore your health and get back to enjoying your life.

Alzheimer’s-Associated Immune Reactivity | Alzheimer’s LINX Lab Test

An important aspect of Alzheimer’s disease that is highly overlooked is the breakdown of the blood-brain barrier (BBB).

The blood-brain barrier is a highly selective barrier between blood vessels and neurons. Its job is to let good things in and keep bad things out.

When this barrier is damaged by things like microbes, chemicals, heavy metals, food sensitivities, etc., the factors that keep the BBB healthy start to diminish which can increase neuroinflammation leading to cognitive decline.

The new Cyrex Alzheimer’s blood test (LINX) looks for antibodies to damaging BBB factors and checks to see if the immune system is attacking factors that keep the brain healthy.

This test assesses overall production of Immunoglobulin G, Immunoglobulin A and Immunoglobulin M in the body — an important measurement of general immunity.

If your immune system is wiped out, you may not produce enough antibodies to test

You can screen for this prior to your Cyrex test by ordering a total immunoglobulin (IgG, IgA, and IgM) test. If they’re low, your Cyrex results may come back negative despite obvious symptoms.

Array 2 is an antibody assessment of the intestinal barrier integrity and bacterial endotoxins (lipopolysaccharides), tight-junction proteins (occludin, zonulin) and cell cytoskeleton (actomyosin) and identifies both transcellular (through the cells) and paracellular (between the cells) routes of intestinal barrier penetration (leaky gut) by large molecules with a capacity to challenge the immune system.

There is an increasing awareness that foods may play a much larger role in immune reactivity than previously thought.  We all eat food, and foods are a constant and sustained source of antigens, much more so than other things we may be exposed. Array 10-90 measures reactivity to 90 food antigens most commonly consumed from our Array 10, in cooked, raw, modified or processed forms. The Array 10-90 also features all of Cyrex’s proprietary food testing which includes testing food antigens in the cooked, raw, modified or processed form on the same panel.

Chemical Immune Reactivity Screen | Cyrex Array #11 It is well known that chemical exposure can lead to ill health. Many tests can be used to show levels of chemical exposure; however, understanding how your immune system reacts to chemicals is extremely important. The importance of Cyrex chemical sensitivity testing lies in the fact that if there is an immune sensitivity to chemicals, the amount of exposure may be irrelevant.

A large portion of IBS occurs exclusively after infection with bacteria such as E. coli, Samonella, Shigella and Campylobacter jejuni. All these organisms produce in common cytolethal distending toxins, which have a major role in the disruption of both tight junction and cytoskeletal proteins such as vinculin, talin and a-actinin, thus weakening the epithelial cell structures. Dysregulated immunity, low-grade inflammation and altered gastrointestinal (GI) permeability, the presence of mood disorders, fatigue, fibromyalgia and migraine found in up to 70% of patients add complexity to the accurately diagnosing this disorder. Currently, diagnosis is made by exclusion of disorders that mimic IBS and by focusing on IBS common symptoms.

Cyrex Array 5 is a cutting edge test to assess possible tissue damage to multiple organs of the body. Elevated auto antibodies, known as Predictive Antibodies, are measurable up to ten years before the clinical onset of the disease. Early identification of autoimmunity can help to possibly stop or reverse disease progression. Array 5 looks at multiple tissues commonly targeted by auto-antibodies, including Cardiovascular, Endocrine, Joint, Gastrointestinal, Neurological and more.

Diabetes Autoimmune Reactivity Screen | Cyrex Labs Array #6

This array is used to screen for potential autoimmune (immune attack on our body) issues that are typically seen in the pancreas (type 1 diabetes). This array can be used as an initial test or a follow-up to Cyrex Array #5 (multiple autoimmune screens).

Array 7. Assists in the early detection of neuro-autoimmunity and can help valuate severity of the autoimmune response in various neurological conditions such as ataxia, neuropathy and demyelinating conditions. It can also be used to monitor effectiveness of treatment protocols used in the management of neuro-autoimmunity.

The Neurological Autoimmune Reactivity Screen Array 7 and Array 7 expanded are a useful tool to help assist in the early detection of neuro-autoimmunity. The test can highlight the severity of the autoimmune response, and assists in monitoring the effectiveness of current wellness plans.

There are two types of the Array 7. The first one looks at IgG and IgA responses where as the Array 7x (Expanded) also assesses IgM.

Joint Autoimmune – Cyrex Array 8. Joint autoimmune test can assist in the early detection of mixed connective tissue disorders as well as helping to assess the effectiveness of treatment protocols for conditions such as osteoarthritis and the management of mixed connective tissue disorders

Evaluate possible outcomes of compromised mucosal tolerance, such as: intestinal barrier dysfunction, food and chemical immune reactivity, and autoimmunity.

Cyrex Array 3 – Wheat Gluten Autoimmunity Reactivity Profile is the most sensitive test available for gluten reactivity. Measuring immune response to an array of wheat antigens increases the sensitivity andspecificity, and will provide greater confidence in formulation of a diagnosis that allows for better patient compliance with a gluten-free diet.

Gluten Associated Sensitivity and Cross-Reactive Foods | Cyrex Array #4

Is your body reacting to gluten-free foods as if they were gluten?

Gluten intolerance and sensitivities are not as straightforward as you might think. In fact, researchers found that some people react to other foods (even gluten-free foods) as if they were gluten. If you tested positive for gluten after using the Cyrex Labs Gluten Intolerance Test, you may be embarking on a gluten-free lifestyle. In order to achieve your gluten-free health goals and create optimal health, it is important to know what other foods cause your body to react.

Nutrition Testing & Consult

The NutrEval FMV® is both a blood and urine test that evaluates over 125 biomarkers and assesses the body’s functional need for 40 antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids, digestive support, and other select nutrients.

The Organic Acids Test (OAT) offers a comprehensive metabolic snapshot of a patient’s overall health with 76 markers. Many people with chronic illnesses and neurological disorders often excrete several abnormal organic acids in their urine.ur Organic Acids Test also includes markers for vitamin and mineral levels, oxidative stress, neurotransmitter levels, and is the only OAT to include markers for oxalates, which are highly correlated with many chronic illnesses.

The Amino Acids Urine Test offers important clinical data on metabolic, nutritional, and neurological disorders. The test analyzes 40 amino acids and provides a detailed explanation of the possible causes and consequences of detected abnormalities, along with nutritional information.

From a simple finger stick it measures key omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and calculates key indicators to establish your optimal balance. Trans fatty acids the “bad” oils in processed foods are also measured. Inflammatory balance – Improper fatty acid intake affects the balance of anti- and pro-inflammatory eicosanoids, increasing health risks. Increased free radical production – Consumption of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) without increasing antioxidant intake will cause increased production of free radicals.

The Methyl Detox Profile includes genetic markers or SNPs involved in methylation and homocysteine metabolism. Homocysteine is a maker of inflammation in the heart and in the brain.

Standard cholesterol testing found in most medical offices is inadequate. This Healthy Heart test goes way beyond standard testing. Consider this test if you have already had standard testing abnormalities or if you want a natural approach.

The Great Plains Laboratory has created GPL-TOX, a toxic non-metal chemical profile that screens for the presence of 173 different toxic chemicals including organophosphate pesticides, phthalates, benzene, xylene, vinyl chloride, pyrethroid insecticides, acrylamide, perchlorate, diphenyl phosphate, ethylene oxide, acrylonitrile, and more.

The Metabolomix+ is a unique combination of nutritional tests that provides an analysis of key nutritional biomarkers. A first morning void (FMV) urine collection, with optional add-on bloodspot finger stick and buccal swab, the Metabolomix+ nutritional test is a non-invasive, patient-friendly way to assess the functional need for antioxidants, B-vitamins, minerals, digestive support, fatty acids, and amino acids. Insights gained from the Metabolomix+ nutritional test allows clinicians to target nutritional therapies to meet the precise needs of their patients.

The Oxidative Stress Analysis 2.0 is a urine test that looks into two oxidative tissue damage markers, the lipid peroxides, and 8-OHdG. Oxidative stress determines many common chronic diseases and balance is crucial for slowing or stopping degenerative processes.

When high levels of kryptopyrrole circulate in the body, it binds with Vitamin B6 and zinc causing them to be depleted faster and preventing their use in the brain and body. A high incidence of this is demonstrated in Autism Spectrum Disorders, AD(H)D, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, alcoholism and down syndrome.

The Copper + Zinc Profile is an excellent way to determine immune status and the nutritional intake and/or absorption of zinc and copper.

Mold Testing

Mycotoxins are very toxic compounds given off by certain types of mold. While the vast majority of molds we encounter everyday are not dangerous, there are some molds that produce gas-like substances called mycotoxins. These are very similar to a volatile organic compound (VOC). The Great Plains Laboratory’s MycoTOX Profile measures a patient’s exposure to eleven different mycotoxins (toxins from mold) and makes recommendations for detoxification treatments.

Mold allergy is an abnormal immune reaction to mold spores or mold cell components. People can be exposed to mold spores or byproducts at work, home or outdoors.

The Environmental Mold and Mycotoxin Assessment, or EMMA, is a highly sensitive test developed by RealTime Laboratories in 2019.

The RealTime Labs mycotoxin test detects 16 different mycotoxins, including 9 macrocyclic trichothecenes. Testing is done using the most up to date scientific methods to assure patients receive clear and comprehensive results.

Environmental Testing

Recent studies have discovered glyphosate exposure to be a cause of many chronic health problems. It can enter the body by direct absorption through the skin, by eating foods treated with glyphosate, or by drinking water contaminated with glyphosate.

Possible cancers linked to glyphosate exposure include non-Hodgkin lymphoma, renal tubule carcinoma, pancreatic islet-cell adenoma, and skin tumors. Studies have also indicated that glyphosate disrupts the microbiome in the intestine, causing a decrease in the ratio of beneficial to harmful bacteria.

The Chemical Immune Reactivity Screen (Array 11) measures immune response to chemicals bound to human proteins, unlike other tests that only identify chemical exposure. This measurement helps determine a person’s health risk from chemical exposure.

The test extends beyond detecting chemical exposure levels to measuring antibody response to the chemicals, demonstrating impact on the body. The Array 11 specifically measures an extensive number of chemical toxins that can bind to body tissues with environmental exposure.

MARCoNS (Multiple Antibiotic Resistant Coagulase Negative Staphylococci) is an antibiotic resistant staph infection that resides deep in the nose. MARCoNS are very slow growing however, can have such an effect on one’s health leading to chronic fatigue, hormonal imbalances, and more.

Miscellaneous

The MethylDetox Profile tests critical genes in the methylation pathway. The methylation pathway is the major part of detoxification and the metabolic cycle. Based on your genetics, this profile enables you to address many important chronic medical conditions by using nutrition and nutrient supplementation.

People with celiac disease carry one or both of the HLA DQ2 and DQ8 genes, but so does up to 25-30% of the general population.

Celiac disease is linked to heredity, what this means is that you can only develop celiac if you carry the genes that predispose you to it. For this reason more and more doctors are using celiac disease genetic testing to determine if someone has the predisposition to develop the condition.

The interplay between bone formation and resorption is a continuous lifelong process which favors bone formation in the early years of life, leading to a peak bone mass at approximately 20 to 30 years of age. From there on, the total bone mass gradually declines in both men and women.

Dopamine beta hydroxylase (DBH) is an enzyme crucial to the balance of dopamine and norepinephrine in the body. It is required for the conversion of dopamine into norepinephrine. DBH is like a lock associated with tyrosine and tyrosine derivatives fit like keys in the lock

Established Patient Trouble Shooting Consults

For Existing patients under active care and who have had a case review A brief 15 minute consultation to troubleshoot any issues with your functional medicine program. Labs are not reviewed in this type of appointment.

The Trouble shoot existing patient with lab review is designed for established patients who have had lab testing done or lab testing that was ordered by another doctor. This consolation requires additional review and discussion with Dr Hagmeyer above and beyond your scheduled consultations included in your program. This may also be a review of bloodwork from another doctors office that you have requested Dr Hagmeyer to review. This review is restricted to the review of bloodwork only. For existing/established patients who are under active care.

Nutrigenomic and NeuroTransmitter Testing

GX Sciences’ neurotransmitter genetic testing shares what SNPs you have within the neurotransmitter markers. This information allows GX Sciences to recommend nutritionally support specific to those genetic shortcomings.

Pharmacogenomic testing, otherwise known as PGx, refers to a type of genetic test by cheek swab to predict a patient’s likelihood to experience an adverse event or not respond to a given drug.

For our Neurological / Psych Nutrigenomic Panel, 27 gene variants have been chosen by our experts to be analyzed for SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms).

Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers used by the nervous system to relay information from one nerve to another.

Optimal neurotransmitter balance is required to maintain proper health. Imbalances can cause the brain and the body to be over- or under-stimulated, producing neurological or psychological symptoms.
