Dr Hagmeyer Explains the Controversy Surrounding Coffee And Gluten| Could be a Deadly combination.

In this video Dr Hagmeyer explains the connection between coffee and Gluten. For many people coffee can be hard on your digestive system, however what many people may not realize is that coffee contains gluten and can be a source of gluten exposure.

Regular coffee and even decaffeinated contains caffeine, which can lead fairly quickly to a bad case of the runs, especially if you’re newly diagnosed with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity and your system is still irritated.

In fact, some people with irritable bowel syndrome report that plain caffeinated coffee triggers IBS symptoms, and I’ve seen a few reports from some IBS sufferers who say even decaf coffee (which does contain a tiny amount of caffeine) causes problems. (Here’s more on why avoiding gluten is not enough to ovecome IBS or Celiac disease)

If you’re new to the gluten-free diet, you might not be able to tell the difference yet between your symptoms when you eat gluten and other digestive maladies (such as a bad reaction to caffeine).
