What Kind Of Testing Does DrHagmeyer.com Use.
We offer some of the most advanced Functional Testing available today! Patients who consult with our practice often need a combination of the tests you see below. This often includes Saliva, Urine, Blood, Breath, Genetic and Stool.
Comprehensive Metabolic Blood Panel:
Have you been told that everything is normal in your bloodwork? If your like many of our patients this is confusing and also frustrating. In today’s managed care system doctors are encouraged to limit the amount of testing and the kinds of tests patients often desperately need in order to get better. This can be incredible frustrating. Tests are clues into what could be wrong with a patient. If you don’t have these clues how can you help a patient.
Why are People so Sick?
Thats an easy one. Combine Incomplete testing with Doctors who only spend 10-15 minutes with their patients and patients who leave every appointment with prescription medications and you have patients who only get sicker.
Full Thyroid Panel including Free T4, Free T3, T3 uptake, Reverse T3, and Antibodies.
Having a complete Thyroid Panel is absolutely necessary if you have a chronic Health condition. This is an ideal test if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms: fatigue, heart palpitations, constipation, unexplained weight gain or difficulty losing weight, dry skin, hair loss (even thinning of eyebrows), and/or cold hands/feet and depression. Even if your doctors have said your thyroid is normal theres a good chance its not. Conventional doctors seem to be very confused about Thyroid testing these days. Below is an example of a comprehensive thryoid Panel. If you have a chronic Heath Problem you need to have more than just the basic TSH test and T4 test.
Female Hormone Test:
Sadly, many self help books reccomend that men and women start a hormone protocols with proper testing. They give dosages, time of the month or day to take the hormone and what supplements to take. THIS IS DANGEROUS. Why would anyone want to start hormone therapy without first measuring the needs? This simple to perform, very accurate salivary hormone testing measures the 6 most important sex hormones relating to most women’s concerns. Your DHEA (anti-aging, bone health, memory, energy and sleep capactiy, immune strength), testosterone (muscle mass, bone and heart strength, sex drive), the 3 estrogens you make (estrone, estradiol, estriol), and progesterone (bone, uterine, breast, and mental health) are all measured with this simple salivary test.
This is an ideal test for women dealing with PMS, depression, perimenopause, menopause, infertility, Insomnia, and those with or wanting to prevent breast or uterine cancer.

Estrogen Metabolism Test:
Some women preferentially convert their estrogens into a potentially toxic and inflammatory hormone called 16-hydroxyestrone. This hormone has been associated with an increased incidence of breast and uterine cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus. This is a simple urine test you collect in the privacy of your home and send to our reference lab. This is a critical test to run if you have breast or uterine cancer, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis or even a family history of these.
Bone Resorption Test:
Bone is made of more than just minerals like calcium. As a matter of fact, a large portion of its strength is due to the collagen-type protein found only in bone. Bone is a dynamic organ, breaking down daily and being reformed daily. As bone is broken down, some of this bone specific collagen will show up in the urine. The more your bone is breaking down, the more collagen appears in the urine. Therefore, they have developed a urine test (again, collected in the privacy of your home) which measures this bone-specific collagen. This is a great tool for both men and women with a family history of osteoporosis or those who already have been diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis to determine effectiveness of therapy.
Male Hormone Test:
Like the female hormone test, it makes perfect sense for men to measure their hormone status. Men with low testosterone levels tend to have the following: high cholesterol and/or triglycerides, high blood pressure, high blood glucose, abdominal obesity, higher levels of blood clotting factors, inability to concentrate, tend to be more moody and emotional, fatigue, and diminished sex drive and often just feel blah. This is a simple salivary hormone test which measures the following: DHEA, androstenedione, estradiol, estrone, testosterone, and the inflammatory dihydrotestosterone.

Cardiovascular Health
Since over 50% of the people who have heart attacks have NORMAL cholesterol levels, it has led researchers to search for more potential risk factors than just these lipids. So far, the following have shown to be the most important, which are blood tests:
Homocysteine:
A caustic chemical your body makes which damages the smooth lining of your blood vessels, causing enough damage to allow calcium, cholesterol, and fibrin clots to adhere to your blood vessel walls affecting blood flow.
C-Reactive Protein:
A protein that becomes elevated in the blood due to infection or inflammation. If elevated, one has an increased incidence of heart attacks and stroke.
Fibrinogen:
A precursor to clot material. Some people make more than others, and if their fibrinogen is high, they are predisposed to forming blood clots.
Food Allergy and Food Sensitivity Testing
Have you ever wondered if what you are eating is affecting your health? We have found that food sensitivities have been the underlying cause of a multitude of symptoms people are experiencing, such as headaches, migraines, arthritis, asthma, colitis, sleep disorders, eczema, bed wetting, fluid retention, and even depression. Once
Did you realize that the majority of “food allergies” reactions are delayed reactions, meaning they may not present themselves for up to 3 to 4 days after consumption? In other words, the reaction you are having today may be due to something you ate 3 to 4 days ago. This is not the same test as what an allergist might run. Those tests are looking for acute Hypersensitivity as opposed to a delayed onset hypesensivity reaction. This is a blood test which measures your antibody (immune) response as well as cross reactive foods.
Fecal (Stool )Microbiology
We all have trillions of healthy bacteria in our intestinal tract; however, these can become imbalanced and actually cause chronic inflammatory conditions, such as headaches, eczema, colitis, irritable bowel, weight gain, mood disorders and even arthritis. Why put yourself on a strenuous anti-parasite or yeast treatment program if you don’t need to? It makes sense to test first. There are several stool culture tests available, which can check for parasites, yeast, and pathogenic bacteria. If our lab does find a pathogenic bacteria or yeast, they run a culture and sensitivity on it, informing Dr Hagmeyer of what would be the best options for treatment. This might include using prescription drugs and or natural herbs, to see what is the most effective agent needed to eradicate the bug.
Gluten Sensitivity Testing
Cyrex Labs Test 1- Gluten Sensitivity Screen
This saliva test is the best way to detect gluten sensitivities early. Standard blood testing for gluten intolerance typically tests positive only after their has been extensive damage to the gut or other tissues. Since autoimmune conditions such as celiac disease and Hashimoto’s have gluten and genetic components, this test would be of use for those with a family history of autoimmune disease. Taking a saliva sample is also easy to collect in the case of children who are suspected of being gluten intolerant.
Cyrex Labs Test 2- Intestinal Permeability “Leaky Gut” Screen
The gut of those who are gluten intolerant can be damaged by gluten intake. This damage can lead to what many call “leaky gut syndrome”. This means that things like large food proteins and bacteria that are meant to stay within the lumen of the gut now enters into the blood. The body’s immune then reacts to naturalize the “foreign invaders”. This reaction creates inflammation, which if allowed to continue, can damage organs and lead to other chronic diseases. Testing for intestinal permeability is important in the recovery from long-term gluten exposure.
Leaky Gut Test Is leaky gut effecting your health?
In many people, gluten and other food proteins cause inflammation in the gut, which eventually leads to intestinal permeability, or “leaky gut.” Leaky gut allows undigested food particles, bacteria, and other materials to enter into the bloodstream where they can trigger the immune system creating allergies, sensitivities, and inflammation in other parts of the body.
There are several different ways leaky gut can occur:
- Breakdown of intestinal cells
- Loosening of the junction between cells
- Bacterial infections
How can the leaky gut test help me?
This test pinpoints which of these is causing leaky gut so Dr Hagmeyer knows what to specifically target for faster and more efficient gut repair. This test can also be used to monitor the intestinal support used by Dr Hagmeyer. As the leaky gut improves, you should see a improvement in your test results.
What’s being tested:
- Actomyosin IgG
- Occludin / Zonulin IgG
- Occludin / Zonulin IgA
- Occludin / Zonulin IgM
- Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) IgG
- Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) IgA
- Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) IgM
Cyrex Test array 3 (12 Component Gluten Intolerance Test with Autoimmune Screen)
Research has shown that components other than alpha gliadin can cause damage. As mentioned earlier, standard testing for gluten intolerance only tests for antibodies to one component of gluten, alpha gliadin. This test looks at the 12 most common reactive components of gluten. This is important because not all who are gluten intolerant test positive for alpha gliadin. Since gluten intolerance is highly associated with celiac disease, markers for autoimmune celiac is included with this test. This test is also referred as “Array 3- Wheat/Gluten Proteome Reactivity & Autoimmunity Profile”.
Cyrex Test 4- Gluten Cross-Reactive Foods
Gluten has received the majority of the attention because it is the the most researched. It is extremely important to understand that other foods (even gluten-free foods) can react in the same manner as gluten. Many foods can cross-react like this, however, this test looks at the 24 most common foods that cross-react with gluten. Some common cross-reactive foods are corn, rice, coffee, and chocolate. This test can help doctors and patients develop a clear and effective lifestyle plan.
Cyrex Labs Array 5 Systemic Autoimmune Reactivity Screen
Many studies shows that autoimmune antibody can be elevated in the blood many years before symptoms occur. Cyrex Labs have now developed their array #5, a comprehensive autoimmune screen that helps in the early detection of autoimmunity. If detected early, natural and/or medical interventions can begin in order to minimize long-term illness and promote a better quality of life.
Multiple autoimmune antibodies are tested in this panel due to the fact that more than 40% of those with auto-antibodies to one area have auto-antibodies to other areas of the body. The Cyrex Array #5 tests the gamut of autoimmune antibodies in order to minimize “missing” a potential autoimmune condition. See below for a much more in depth understanding of What Dr Hagmeyer would be looking at. This Test can be extremly helpful in determining a course of action to minimize long term illness and promote better quality of life in any individual suffering with autoimmune conditions.
